Or perhaps more importantly, is FOX ready for it? Can’t
wait to see the ratings for a Cleveland/Colorado World Series!
Actually, here at MSTI, my question is: how should we be rooting? I’m counting Boston out right off the bat, if only because as a former resident of Beantown, I have a ton of friends there and I already can’t deal with their Patriots smugness, so adding a 2nd World Series title on top of that would be completely insufferable. On a less completely selfish note, I imagine Angelenos don’t want to see 2 more months of ESPN fellating the Sox, so I’d think I’m not alone in rooting for Cleveland in the ALCS.
In the NL, another question entirely. On one hand, it’s kind of cool that the NL West is going to have a team in the World Series no matter what – hopefully, this should end all the BS about how the West is a weak sister division, a reputation rightfully gained after San Diego’s 82-win 2005 Division championship. You could easily make the case that the 3rd and 4th best teams in the West, San Diego, and, well, us, are better than the 2nd and 3rd place teams in the Central. On the other hand.. I really, really don’t like Arizona. Stupid name, annoying players (cannot stand Eric Byrnes), ugly jerseys twice over, already won a World Series, and completely inexplicable success this year.
So it sort of sounds like I am rooting for a Cleveland/Colorado World Series? Sorry FOX. I guess that’s your punishment for mistreatment of Futurama and Arrested Development. So if it is Indians/Rockies, what then? It’d be really cool to have the West have a WS Champ that I don’t hate, and how can you hate the Rockies? If they win it all, they’ll still be making movies about this team in 2050.
But, forget what America’s ready forĀ – I don’t know that I’m ready for “Ladies and Gentlemen, your World Series Champion Colorado Rockies!”
