Andy LaRoche is expected to be called up from triple-A Las Vegas for the Dodgers’ game in San Diego on Tuesday to take the place on the active roster that previously belonged to rookie shortstop Chin-lung Hu, who was optioned to Las Vegas today.
LaRoche was competing with Nomar Garciaparra to be the Dodgers’ starting third baseman in spring training, but tore a ligament in his thumb and had to undergo surgery. He was reinstated from the disabled list on May 3, but the emergence of rookie third baseman Blake DeWitt blocked his path to the majors.
Could this mean that Sweeney is FINALLY gone?! Please, God? Pretty please?
Update: Sadly, no, but, instead, Chin-Lung Hu has been optioned back to Las Vegas.
