The issue is one of intent of which all of us are guessing at. If the new owner uses the revenue for good that's one glorious thing...and that's a big if. But if it funds haircuts, nepotism and other lavish lifestyles for people that would add to the 57 crimes perpetrated against the Dodgers at the top of the right column here, well then that's something else entirely.

Garbage, complete garbage, so much of the game changes but two things always have to stay the same. Dodger Stadium and Yankee Stadium. IF moving into a new mallpark the Yanks didn't sell that out, there's no reason for this team to do it. IDK what i'd do but i'd do something if it ever happened, garbage! "It's just a name blah" And don't give me that about payroll, $90 Mill is more than enough to get it done, we need a new GM. The Rays aint making excuses, and the two WS teams are pretty close to us from last year, funny how nobody notices that. "Ohh boohoo Neddie don't have any money"

Maybe I'm too young to care that much? I love Dodger stadium, but I love the stadium, not "dodger stadium". If they changed the name, my honest reaction would be like "meh." It's not like they're tearing it down. Well, if they did tear it down, which I assume they will eventually, I think I'll be ok. I'm not a very nostalgic person by nature.

It would be the absolute worst thing the new owner could do to get Dodger fans back at the ballpark.

As much as I'd absolutely hate for this to happen, the "It'll always be ______ to me" crowd kind of strike me as having their heads in the sand. Names change, everything is transient. Might as well embrace it rather than seem embittered and in denial.

It all depends on how it is done. Lakers and Kings fans may have got bent when Dr. Buss sold the naming rights to The Forum to Great Western Bank, but they got over it in a hurry. It simply went from being the "Fabulous" Forum to the Great Western Forum and the name even held on for 6 years after GW sold out to Washington Mutual! Whatever they do call it, it wil always be Dodger Stadium to me, just like Quaalcom wil always be The Murph and US Cellular will always be Comesky Park. If selling naming rights helps to bring the World Series back to the Ravine, I'll get over it!

For those fuming with righteous indignation right now a little perspective is in order. The only people that really have a right to be upset about a name change at this location are those who were forced from their homes over 50 years ago when Chavez Ravine was scrapped in favor of Dodger Stadium. This isn't so bad.

Honestly, I'd be kind of pissed if new ownership WASN'T looking for ways to increase revenue without gouging fans. If a new owner held a press conference to say "We just signed a $200million deal to name the stadium Company XYZ's Dodger Stadium, and also we just signed Clayton Kershaw for 10 years, $200 million," I don't think too many fans who understood the connection would be that upset. Hell, even if the money went to stadium improvements, that would be awesome. Or maybe, like somebody else suggested, sell the naming rights to Farmer John, but use the money to subsidize the cost of Dodger Dogs, and make them a buck or two instead of five bucks. As had been mentioned, I really really don't care about the signage. It's still gonna be Dodger Stadium.

Personally, I think this speaks to a deeper concern among the fanbase. Dodger fans want an owner that "gets" how they feel about the team, and how they've been feeling since Fox bought the team in 1998. Asking the question indicates that that particular ownership group doesn't have a strong enough connection to the history of the team to know how Dodger fans feel about stadium naming rights. Fans want another "fan" in the ownership box.

It won't matter one bit. Here in New Orleans they changes the name of both the Superdome and the NOLA Arena and people around here still call them what we always have (although all they really did was put Mercedez Benz in front of Superdome).

I used to live in Denver and most of the people I know there still refer to it as "Mile HIgh Stadium" even though it's real name is something else. (Which I can't recall right now because it's still "Mile High Stadium" to me.)

There has only been one corporate-named stadium that I really, really like, and that is The Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati.

This is not funny in the least bit. I am so against this, it makes my blood boil. And joking about it doesnt make it any better. Dodger Stadium and the name should remain untouched. It is sacriligious to speak otherwise, on this the sacred 50th anniversary of DS. The suits just dont get it. Other people just dont get it. This is why it is so important to bring in an owner like a Magic Johnson, who has a connection and love for Dodger tradition. People who do not come from the Dodger culture will never understand this.

Just like you said, real fans will always call it what it is: Dodger Stadium. In fact, that's how you'll tell the real fans from bullshit fans. Naming rights are just like any other advertising that goes on at the park. It's just a big-ass billboard. I still think it's dumb, but I'm not going to get all bent out of shape about it.

I would love for the organization to change one of the names of the streets around Dodger Stadium to honor Vin Scully. Like Vin Scully Way or something like that. Changing the name of the stadium though is something I can't really get behind.
