Dodgers @ Brewers, April 19, 2012: Harang Tries To Avoid the Sweep

There’s just something odd about 10am baseball, I think. When I lived in Boston, the day of the Boston Marathon – known as “Patriots Day” – also came with an 11am Red Sox game, timed so that the end of the game would roughly coincide with the end of the race barely down the street from the park. More importantly, Patriots Day was a thinly-veiled local holiday that was really a nod to the fact that absolutely no one was going to work when there was thousands of runners in downtown and day baseball to watch.

Unfortunately, “the final game of a three-game set in Milwaukee” doesn’t quite rise to that stature, and so we all have to be actually stuck at work while there’s Dodger baseball on. As Bill Shaikin noted earlier today, the Brewers have never swept the Dodgers, ever, though that’s slightly less impressive than it sounds when you remember that even though the Brewers have been in Milwaukee since 1970, they only joined the National League in 1998.

Aaron Harang is on the hill against old friend Randy Wolf as the Dodgers attempt to avoid completely squandering the good will engendered by that fantastic 9-1 start. Juan Uribe sits for the second day in a row; per Ken Gurnick, he is battling a sore wrist.
