Dodgers @ Astros April 20, 2012: Lilly vs Happ

After all the discussion about Dee Gordon today… he’s out of the lineup tonight as the Dodgers kick off a series in Houston. So is Juan Uribe for the third day in a row, and at some point soon they’re going to need to make a decision on whether to DL him or not, because this is a bench which is already shorthanded as it is.

But forget the Dodger lineup for now, because… wow, look at that Houston lineup. This will be my first time getting a look at them this year, and the stories of how bad this roster is have absolutely not been exaggerated. How they’re actually 5-8 to this point, I do not know. (Though I am a big fan of diminutive 5’5″ second baseman Jose Altuve, who is off to a great start this year.) As you may have noticed from the schedule bar at the top, Houston will be wearing throwback Colt .45 jerseys tonight.

In other news, it’s becoming clear that I chose poorly by planning to attend Wednesday’s game against Atlanta, which will be a Ted Lilly vs Brandon Beachy affair, because Friday’s matchup looks to be a real showstopper: Clayton Kershaw vs Stephen Strasburg. The Dodgers are offering all lower reserve tickets to that game for just $9, tying it back to Aaron Harang‘s strikeout streak. Be there.

Finally, per Bill Shaikin, Dodger minor leaguer Angel Guzman has been suspended 50 games after getting busted for “a drug of abuse”. The former Cub was attempting to resume his career after missing several years with arm injuries, though he had not yet appeared in a game for Albuquerque.
