Dodgers @ Giants June 25, 2012: Eovaldi vs Zito

Maybe it’s just me, and I’m not going to go back and research past schedules, but nearly three months into the season seems like an absurdly long time for the first Dodger visit to San Francisco. The Dodgers won two of three when the teams met in Los Angeles in early May; since then, the Giants have been hot, going 25-17, while the Dodgers have lost two games off their lead by going 23-19. I don’t know about you, but if the Dodgers simply manage to come out of this series being better than tied for first place, I might be happy with that.

In minor league news, consensus top prospect Zach Lee was promoted to Double-A Chattanooga today, per Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA. Lee, 21 in September, had only a 4.55 ERA in 12 starts for Rancho Cucamonga, but we all know how ridiculous the run environment is there. More importantly, he had a 52/10 K/BB in 55.1 innings, so they must be seeing something they like, as this will make him one of the youngest players in Double-A. No word yet on who is leaving the Chattanooga rotation – it was already pretty full with Ethan Martin / Chris Reed / Matt Magill / Aaron Miller / Allen Webster – but the Dodgers often like to have young pitchers take some time off midseason to preserve their arms. Lee’s last start was against Bakersfield on Thursday, so if he remains on his normal rest, he might pitch for the Lookouts as soon as tomorrow.
