Dodgers @ Marlins August 10, 2012: Kershaw vs Buehrle

After 77 games since 1993, including being the very first opponent in Florida Marlins history, the Dodgers will make their first journey to the new Marlins Park tonight against Mark Buehrle and the new-look Miami Marlins.

The Juan Uribe saga reaches Day 19 since the last time he’s been in the starting lineup; Jerry Hairston will start tonight, and any thought that we might see Uribe any time soon took another hit when Adam Kennedy was activated today, giving the team one more non-Uribe third base option. Juan Rivera starts at first base because Buehrle is a lefty, despite increasing evidence that since Rivera can’t hit pitching of any handedness, you might as well start James Loney and reap the benefit of defense.

The Marlins, meanwhile, feature three players in tonight’s lineup with ties to the Dodgers. One of the surprise stories in baseball is roaming center field tonight, where 30-year-old Justin Ruggiano is hitting .353/.414/.641 in 175 plate appearances. (And, of course, a .426 BABIP.) Ruggiano hit .226/.262/.359 in parts of three seasons (2007-08, 2011) for Tampa, but initially spent parts of four years in the Dodger organization after being a 25th-round pick in 2004. He was shipped to Tampa as the player to be named later in the 2006 deal that sent Dioner Navarro & Jae Weong Seo to the Rays for Mark Hendrickson & Toby Hall.

Starting at shortstop tonight in place of Jose Reyes is 33-year-old Nick Green, who got nine plate appearances for the 2010 Dodgers before being released in June. In seven MLB seasons spread out over nine years, Green has played for eight teams. For four of those teams, including the Dodgers, he played in nine games or fewer. And, of course, Carlos Lee is at first base, where I can’t stop thanking him for invoking the no-trade clause that prevented the Dodgers from foolishly sending Garrett Gould to Houston for him.

On the Maimi broadcast they're calling him Kenley Yawnsen. Like it's a silent "J"

I'm just relieved Kemp didn't homer to kill the rally.

You see, if you bunt in that position, you don't strike out. #SteveLyonsFacts

Call me cynical, but I'm not all that impressed with that play Loney made.  It wasn't exactly blistered, and pretty much any righty could have made the play.

Guess that's how it's supposed to be pronounced.

@3Mayday3 names are funny in that they are *supposed* to be pronounced the way the person says it should be pronounced.
