Dodgers @ Nationals September 18, 2012: The Death of Pageviews

In which we start game one of Mike trying to keep the blog alive by hoping that all of the pre-published game threads he put in while he’s in Europe actually fire off at the time they’re supposed to. Come onnn, WordPress.

Let’s start off the first day of this saga by remembering something from six years ago today that will never, ever get old.

So because of the doubleheader, nobody in our current rotation can pitch on Sunday on regular rest. So who's it going to be? Kershaw? Ely? Harang on short rest? Bullpen game?

wonder if we'll get a new game thread for the double header or a new one will auto-pop for the originally scheduled 2nd game.

The "Miguel Cabrera should win MVP" talk makes me a bit angry.  Cabrera shouldn't be anywhere close to Trout.

 @Cadtalfryn  @Dodgers Or get scored on. :----------(

If this team plays up to their potential, all Ned and Donnie need to do is wait for reinforcements for the rotation in Bills, Z. Lee, and the rest of the high ceiling Logan White arms in AA.  The Nats did a GREAT job of turning over their rotation this season and the Dodgers can do the same when the time is right.  I think Ned exceeded his grit quota for the bench (Punto, Hairy, AND Booribe :/)and can wait for bench players from AAA instead.

@DBrim Mex and Spain are kinda ugly..and those are the two I'd be interested in. Might be talked into getting the Spain one though.

@DBrim Oh really?  Compare the stats.  Cabrera is at or near the top of the leaderboards in basically every major stat, Home Runs, RBI, Batting Average, OBP, OPS, and Runs.  Seriously, look at the leaderboard here: http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/batting/_/league/al/sort/WARBR/order/true

Trout may be first in WAR, but we all know that doesn't matter to the MVP voters.  Cabrera leads Trout in every one of the categories I mentioned above (except runs, but he's still second overall there) and in most of those cases, he leads him by quite a bit (leads homers by 13 and RBI by 50).  But the most impressive thing about Cabrera's season in my opinion is that he has an OPS over 1 for the season.  Kemp was at .985 for last season and we were all clamoring for him to win the MVP (and he absolutely should have).  Trout has a case to be sure but Cabrera is the likely winner, he's got the conventional MVP-like stats (high home run and RBI total to go along with a high batting average).

@JohnM i was replying on the wrong comment... but as i said ..mike only asked that we watch out for anything that HE would delete such as racist comments. nothing more. we are not moderating any discussions nor would i want to.

part of what i love about this blog is there are no written rules.

@Lobo Trout steals bases.  Cabrera does not.  Cabrera plays bad defense at third base.  Trout plays excellent defense in center field.  Hitting is only a part of the story.

cappy has been pretty awful tho. i guess giving him extra rest may be a good thing.

@CodeBlueICU I guess Cappy could go on full rest today.

@CodeBlueICU i think because harang would have been scheduled for that day, and is now pushed a day forward.

but why does the double header affect rotation rest? the entire staff rested for two days straight now

never was a fan of using a career starter in relief if thats not what theyve been preparing for. especially if its only once every 12 days or however many it was

@Gilbert_Vengeance @el serracho I like Canada and Austalia best. If Korea wasn't baby blue, that would have been good, too.

@DBrim @JohnM I wouldn't say a landslide and I personally wouldn't vote for him but he's definitely in the discussion

@JohnM  @Lobo I'm not arguing about who WILL win.  But I think if we're talking about who SHOULD win, it's Trout in a landslide.

@DBrim MVP voters don't often take that into account.  Remember that these are the same people who voted Braun MVP over Kemp last year solely based on the "Braun led his team to the playoffs" argument
