If the Dodgers finish this season below the Padres, you can all blame me.
~*Story Time*~
Back in March, before the sale, I made a bet with my local friend here in San Diego who is a life-long Padres fan. We bet a simple Dodger-Padres, best record at the end of the season. I offered to spot him a few games spread, but he declined. The loser must wear memorabilia of the winner's choosing to a game or night out (and buy dinner).
Today, with the Dodgers up 6 games on the Padres and only 9 to play, he has elected to officially throw in the towel. We will be attending the game tonight and he will be wearing my newest purchase: a Dodgers shirtsey for Adrian Gonzalez, his favorite Padre.
I may be inviting the wrath of the baseball gods by claiming premature victory, but the chance to make my friend wear an Adrian Dodgers shirt to his first game in Petco as a Dodger was just too tempting to pass up.
Am i the only one who likes watching the start of the formula 1 races then pretty much fast forwards the rest?
hey, the cardinals still have series against the Nats and Reds. Those teams are not the astros.

Ellis is in an 0-for-28 slump, likely driven by workload, the L.A. Times reports.
Recommendation: Ellis has appeared in 125 games this season, by far a career high at any pro level. Look for the Dodgers to solidify the position with a solid veteran this offseason.

@el serracho @EephusBlue Ned gonna Ned, man. Couldn't help giving hairston a 2 year deal or trading for Punto with another year left on his deal. That leaves us with Hairston, Punto, Uribe as backup middle infielders. with Mellis, Dee, Cruz and Hanley. I know it's cool to have depth, but this is different than your normal depth

@el serracho THAT has me just baffled. How the hell did we carry his considerable dead weight all season. What are they thinking?
So, does anyone think that Cruz has played his way into a starting gig to begin the season? Or will he be relegated to being a utility guy with Dee at SS and Hanley at 3b? and Im asking what you think will happen not what you want to happen.
@EephusBlue I assume he'll be in the mix in spring training and will be on the 25, but that management wants Dee to earn his job back. That's assuming no weird trades happen over the winter.

@el serracho Agreed. I figure he has earned a spot on the team but not as a starter going forward. I really hope Dee gets his head out of his ass.

@EephusBlue Who knows if Dee has the skills to get on base enough to be a major leaguer. He's still a prospect, you know? Kid has shown bits of brilliance and a ton of crap.
we are some morose baseball fans today.* tonight's game should help regardless of the outcome - a los will release me and a win will lift my spirits.

@LA Woman Oh yeah, I'm not going anywhere. I meant that i would be released from expectation and hope.
Honestly I can't wait until September is over. When everything is done it will be a relief. Either we went on a tear and made it to the playoffs or we didn't. Either way I will be glad.

@EephusBlue Um... after Sept. we still have three games with... you-know-who (whom I wish we didn't have to see in any capacity until next year).
Wow. The Blue Jays have had an even more injured pitching staff than us. From Grant Brisbee:
When May ended, the Blue Jays were two games back in the AL East. Since then, they've put an entire rotation on the disabled list, and the pitchers who replaced the injured pitchers were injured. The Jays have five starting pitchers currently on the 60-day DL, and the closer they traded for in the offseason might miss chunks of next year with a labrum injury.
Two pitchers haven't missed a start: Ricky Romero and Henderson Alvarez. They've both been awful. Really, the only two players who weren't disappointing in some fashion were Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion, and Bautista is out for the season now.

@LA Woman I guess the reason this season disappoints me so much is that now we're the rich kids. we are failing in the same way as the angels are and the way that people want the yankees to fail.
i never minded losing as much when we had a low payroll.
