Giants @ Dodgers October 2, 2012: Zito vs Capuano

Just all kinds of fun going on today, isn’t there? Chris Capuano, starting tonight in yet another must-win game (though it may not matter, given that the Cards are already up 1-0 against Mat Latos and the Reds) is dealing with a sore shoulder from… wait for it… “hitting himself with a donut the other day,” reports Dylan Hernandez. I’ll assume that means a batting donut and not, say, a jelly donut, but it’s far more fun to assume that it was some sort of pastry.

Speaking of pastries, Matt Treanor “apparently strained a side muscle during batting practice and headed to the clubhouse in obvious pain,” per Ken Gurnick. Treanor – who is not Capuano’s personal catcher – wasn’t in tonight’s lineup, but we can probably assume that it was just sympathy pain. Should anything happen to A.J. Ellis, we might actually get to see Tim Federowicz prove that he exists. Just want you’d want on October 2, right?

Imagine if Kemp didn't strike out 3 times.

You know I tried to rationalize Mellis going for third but you know what I can't! There was no reason for him to stretch and he did AND it was the difference in the game... I hope the guy is NOT the starting second basemen next year I hope he's gone the same way URIBE will be (hopefully) THE GUY FUCKED THE DOG!

I would only dump Donnie if it meant Scioscia coming on board

Then Mike could change the sites name to "Mike Scioscia's Super Managerial Powers"

@JoeyE he made the right call to pull Capuano, then made a series of blunders after that.  Ok, so he's supposed to be a player's manager not a La Russa type, I get that.  So I think it hurt more that the team stunk it up for a whole month before catching fire.  I think part of that's on him, he has to have these guys focused and ready to play, if he's not going to be an x's and o's manager.

Walking Pagan to get to Scutaro, Not switching out Rivera for Gordon, having AJ bunt...this game alone should get Mattingly fired.
