NLCS Game 7: Let’s Go, Asteroid

There’s a Game 7 tonight (pending iffy weather in San Francisco), so you’re damn right there’s going to be a game thread.

As you can imagine, I don’t really want either team to win, though I think it’s obvious we’re all Cardinals fans tonight; imagine how insufferable the Giants would be if they battled back from a 3-1 deficit here?

The downside of that is having to root for Kyle Lohse, who is poised to become the most annoying free agent of the offseason now that Buster Olney is saying he’s heard from scouts who think Lohse could end up with a 5/$77.5m contract similar to C.J. Wilson‘s last year. (I’ve already heard from one angry Cardinals fan who claimed I should stop being a stat nerd and simply watch the games because Lohse has been so great for the last four years, which, right.) I don’t know about you, but the idea of Ned Colletti seeing a good-but-not-great 34-year-old pitcher with a history of arm trouble headed into the marketplace after a good postseason is basically the definition of horror, so to see Lohse get knocked around a bit wouldn’t be the worst thing.

Still, we can’t always get what we want, and there’s no outcome involving the Giants in the World Series which ends well. So in a classic “the enemy of the enemy is our friend” move, reluctantly: let’s go Cardinals.

 @DBrim  it's basically a "hey everyone hates this dude but maaayyybe he's a good trade fit", but where usually I start writing knowing what my point will be, this one is also a learning about him as I go, so it's harder.

So a bunch of my Gnat fan friends were asleep during game 7 and woke up to the news and now are bragging on FB about it being great news to wake up to. Why they didn't have their eyes glued to the TV for every second is beyond me. Frontrunners.

Rowland v Christian, A Limerick 

 

Hello everyone, my name is John Healy

I’m but a small time defense attorney

Ms. Christian I represented

For an apartment she rented

Where a sink cut the hand of her licensee

 

Though my client was a woman of modest finance

Money Rowland wanted from her renter’s insurance

Which despite being rare

Did cover her silverware

And is really why I’m involved in this song and dance

 

I was actually hired by the insurance company

My client, after award of judgment on summary

They have the nerve out of nowhere to pull this crap

Never questioned the validity

Of Licensee, Trespasser & Invitee

Remanded, settlement ::sigh:: at least it’s a wrap.

It's way more infuriating to watch the Giants win than it is to watch the Dodgers lose.  And there's that terrible, helpless, "will someone please stop this!?!?" feeling.
