White Sox “at” Dodgers: The Return of Dodger Baseball

camelbackranchFor the record, no — I’m not planning on running game threads for every spring training game, since the games are mostly during the work day and they tend to get pretty tedious, pretty quickly. There’s two exceptions to that, however; if the game is televised (of which there are disappointingly few), and when it’s the first game of the spring.

Today falls under the latter category, because Clayton Kershaw is on the mound against Dylan Axelrod and the White Sox in a game that has no meaning whatsoever but what the hell, it’s baseball.

Well, in theory it’s baseball, because even though it’s happening in Arizona it might as well be taking place on the moon — we won’t be able to see it. You can at least hear it on KLAC 570 AM or on MLB.com, and lord bless you if you’re so desperate for baseball today that you’ll be listening to Charley Steiner talk about the pitchers who aren’t Kershaw (Matt Magill, Stephen Fife, Mark Lowe, Ronald Belisario, Kelvin De La Cruz, & Gregory Infante, to be exact) pitching against whatever scrubs the White Sox will have out there long after Paul Konerko & Adam Dunn are gone.

I don’t mean that as a pejorative in any way, of course. I’m absolutely that desperate for baseball.

"Walter also says that the Dodgers, who already have a $230MM payroll in 2013, still have the financial flexibility to add substantial talent at this year's trade deadline, should the need arise. "I think in terms of who the players are, what we need and what our options are, rather than a total budget," Walter says. "

@Antonio G let's make a good team. Money doesnt matter. It's the right attitude.

@Bob Meripol  @Antonio I still maintain that the best pic of Mark Walter is my avatar. Not with the money raining down per se, but in the context of Dodger Stadium at the game. The guy looks like a genuine fan that cheers for the team. Never saw Frank giving a shit during games or even smiling when we won.

@Antonio G  @DeucesWild Yup. I put in an order for them. Should be getting here Monday. Soon as they do I will put them in my store for sale.  I made stop bunting and Vinning in sticker format. Also had some buttons made with the stop bunting logo.

@DeucesWild I'll have to work on that. THere is a drawing of Kourfax on the right in the background that isnt visible.

@EephusBlue  It's probably just fine on widescreen monitors, this one is an older backup since my good one took a dump

@EephusBlue Ok, first thing that caught my eye is the background. Maybe you should try and shift the silhouette of the guy to the right. Otherwise, you just see a calf and a hand holding a bat and nothing but blue space on the right. Other than that, I like it.

@LA_Woman @EephusBlue @Bob Meripol @Antonio it is a beautiful thing to see an ambitious man aggressively build his empire. It reminds me of the dearly departed Dr Jerry Buss. We can only hope that Walter makes that kind of impact on the Dodgers, and on Baseball.
