In response to your title, I enjoyed watching Harrison Ford throw out the first pitch (bounced it) and seeing Mattingly act like a paparazzi.

The more I see Mattingly, with his inept bullpen management and passive offensive strategy - it was almost shocking to see Mellis take a base on defensive indifference - the less I like him. And I never liked him all that much in the first place.

I think the problem stems from the top. They don't know chemistry or grit. We need new ownership. 7-6 is absolutely unacceptable. A college football team barely gets to a bowl game with that record. We should be 12-1 and playing in the Rose Bowl. FIRE MAGIC AND STAN AND GUGGENHEIM

Interestingly last me and my roommate noticed the best coverage of the Boston Bombing was ESPN right after the phillies-reds games. It was at least 2 straight hours of interviews with witnesses, videos of the events, useful information to people who might need it, they also showed the whole presidents speech without cutting off and maybe most importantly did not report any rumors and had no talking heads except for 5 minutes of schilling who was not actually awful.

Any thoughts on who is going to pitch for us in Baltimore? I have tickets for Friday already (was thinking that would be Kershaw before all the changes) but now it looks like Ryu, Beckett and Billingsley to me...

What happened to players like Brian Cavazus Galvez, Jesse Bosnik, and Jeremy Moore? Are they at extended spring training or released?

Volunteering to wake up two hours earlier than I'm used to was a mistake

I was talking to my friend in Korea just now, and he thought the Babe Ryuth thing was awesome, but he wants to know why we can't score any goddamn runs.

Me too, man.

I know this nothing compared to the loss...But dodger stadium put in these giant HD screens and won't play amsingle replay of "PLAYS"- not even an amazing hit or a double play... We have giant 1080P screens for Kiss Cam? It really sucks in the stadium and they have somehow forgotten why they spent the money- looking at you Stan.

@Vin_Skully

Are you going to Camden Yards?  Do you live in MD?  We used to live in Baltimore, great city, great ballpark.  You should have a great time.

@the_real_paul I was talking to my hundreds of friends on MSTI just now and they think the Babe Ryuth thing is awesome but they want to know why we can't score any goddamn runs.

Me too, men.

*disclaimer: I almost typed 'mans' instead of 'men.' English is dumb dumb.

@moneynow27 @Vin_Skully I live in DC. I have been waiting for interleague play to line-up for the Dodgers to play there. So this will be my first trip to the stadium despite having lived here for 9 years.

It's been awhile, but Boog Powell the former Oriole used to have a barbecue concession with amazing food at the park.  On another note, you have to be concerned with our choices of DH for the series, Hairston, Skippy, Punto, Uribe.  Ned still doesn't get it after all these years.

@the_real_paul @Antonio G @JohnM @LA_Woman That's a pretty good way to describe it. The weather is perfect and there is rarely any traffic. It's like a total mirage though. People think it's so laid back and friendly because they spend all their time on the beach but as soon as they drive a little East towards the mexican and "white trash" communities is when they realize it's not all beers and rainbows. Speaking of beers, there's plenty of it. If what you want is to live by the beach and surf and smoke weed and just fucking chill, then SD is perfect. Other than that, pass.

@the_real_paul @Antonio G @JohnM @LA_Woman I like walking around the water where the Aquarium of the Pacific is and riding the ferris wheel across the street. I haven't done much else in Long Beach other than drive around and go to Alondra's but I wouldn't mind living there.

@Antonio G @the_real_paul @JohnM @LA_Woman yeah, not a bad area. Really lively downtown, decent public transportation, not too crowded, right by the ocean. Halfway between LA and OC. Only downside is you run out of things to do kinda fast, but I guess that's true everywhere.

@Antonio G @the_real_paul @JohnM @LA_Woman Ah, I didn't get along too well with my ex's dad either. He was never mean to me or anything, but I got the feeling he just had a hard time getting along with most people in general.

@the_real_paul @Antonio G @JohnM @LA_Woman I was absolutely ape shit banana sandwich about this girl but after 2 years of not being able to win her dad over it just took a toll on it I guess and she ended it. Now she's dating a Padres fan who works down at the docks where the restaurant is because of course she is. Can't win them all.

@the_real_paul @Antonio G @JohnM @LA_Woman I'm really good at mini golf but that's about it. Yeah, he has been fishing his whole life. Goes down to Panama for tuna and her family is pretty wealthy because of it. She even works at a seafood restaurant by the Bay. The second he found out I was a Dodgers fan our boyfriend/gf's father relationship went to shit. One time we went to her house after the Dodgers had beaten SD and he was slightly intoxicated and mad about it so I put my hand on his shoulder and he just told me to go fuck myself haha.

@Antonio G @the_real_paul @JohnM @LA_Woman aww man, that's like the staple of the father, daughter's boyfriend relationship. I was really good golfer growing up. I had a lot of potential for my age, but I never had the discipline to really grow. I regret it now, but it's still fun to dust off the clubs now and then. Fishing runs pretty big in my family, but I only really get out once or twice a year since open party boats are kind of a mess and charters are crazy expensive.

@LA_Woman @the_real_paul Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I figured it was too specific a question for such a general population. I had just never heard anything about that before and never really thought about it, so I wanted a second opinion.

Anyway, I know waiting for women to approach me won't get me very far. I'm just not the most confident person and I worry that if I try to initiate things it will immediately get really awkward. I haven't really had to think about this for over 3 years, so it's just a weird adjustment, but I'll get there.

Thanks agian.

@the_real_paul @LA_Woman  Well, you really cannot generalize about Asian women. Some are new to this country; some have been here for generations and are much more American than Asian. Of course the ones new to the country would be the ones with more traditional upbringings. They might also shy away from people not of their same race. But again you can't generalize; some rebel against traditional parents by dating outside their ethnicity.

I don't understand the "approaching guys" part of your question unless you're the type who waits for women to approach you, which is not very attractive. Most women like the man to be the initiator.

I've got no clue as to why Asian women in particular don't notice you or show no interest. Again there are so many different generations of Asians in this country -- and so many different Asian cultures.

(And I am so sorry about your relationship. I remember you talking about the long-term-ness of  it.)

Paulstralia
Paulstralia

@LA_Woman @the_real_paul alright, so the other day I was talking to a friend of mine (he's asian american). I won't get too specific since nobody wants to hear my sob story, but I recently ended a long term relationship so I've been a little down about that lately. So he offered to take me out and find me, in his words "a hot asian chick."

I told him I appreciate the offer, but for whatever reason, asian women seem to just like... either not notice me at all or show no interest. I'm not exactly Channing Tatum, usually I can at least get a smile or something, but with asian women, absolutely nothing.

He told me that asian girls would probably love me, but most asian households are really traditional and teach girls never to approach guys, only wait for men to approach them. Just wondering if there's any truth to this or if he's just trying to psych me up or something?
