Zack Greinke made 23 starts in Miller Park, all as a Brewer in 2011-12. (Okay, and one relief appearance with Kansas City back in 2007). Over that span he went 15-0 — and you all know how stupid I think pitcher wins & losses are, so the fact that I’m even bothering to point it out here says something — and struck out 183 in 149.2 innings.

I don’t know what it is that Greinke likes about this park, but I’m pretty happy to have him doing there in Dodger blue tonight rather than Brewers… well, darker blue.

That’s all I have to say today — thanks, work! — but that’s partially because after the insanity of the last few days… there’s no news. There’s no roster move, no lineup questions, just a regular baseball day. Given what we’ve seen lately, that’s a welcome change indeed.

He's going the distance! He's going for speed! She's all alone. All alone in her time of need

I've enjoyed lurking here for ages, been a season ticket holder for years- but I can't bare it any more. It was much more fun watching last years gang of misfits and AAA players scrap out wins- we had the dreams of the underdog. Watching these overpaid impotent "stars" find new uninspired ways to lose is just tragic and painfully boring. Thanks, it was either vent or kick the dog..

Lol guys this team is the same as it was two days ago. Really only worth watching when Clayton is pitching.

Even with that HR last night, Kemp's swing doesn't really look any better.

Also I spent way more time reading about Etsy sales than watching the game tonight. So there's that.

This is Dodger baseball.

If I root for SVS, am I rooting for trolls everywhere?

Why is it that we have good players and slowly go down the drain? Then they get traided and have a better career some where else? Does that have to do with coaching or are we cursed until lasorda moves on? This sucks, we need to shake things up!

@DBrim By my math, you've spend 80 hours reading about Etsy sales in the last week.

You 'r going to hurt your brain trying to figure out why an outfield with Xavier paul is out performing outfields with jayson werth and matt kemp

@(VND) His swing isn't all that great right now. Stepping away from the ball, swing is very long. Mechanically it is way off.

so we cant pick and choose the metrics we wish to embrace and wish to ignore. metrics show that as a catcher (read: not as a hitter), AJ is kinda not very good

Joc Pederson > Matt Kemp

@(VND) Either his shoulder is not better or he is compensating for his shoulder not being strong enough. Or it's mental. How am I supposed to know?

and whyyy do you think that is?

AJ is solid in getting in front of most balls- but he is terrible at framing up pitches. He stabs at them and regularly makes close pitches look much worse than they are. Fed or even Hern give the ump much more to think about. That said they pale on every other level.

all the strawmans...

@DBrim @(VND) "Dodger batters tap their shoes 4 times an at bat when AJ is catching vs. 2 times when FedEx is catching.  Clearly this is the problem"

calm down bro. i need you to calm down

@(VND) Also, that is not picking and choosing metrics because THAT IS NOT A METRIC

MSTI OG
MSTI OG

ok Daniel Pythago Brim, i want you to look at ALL the metrics

DBrim

@(VND) He has thrown out more than 50% of the batters who have tried to steal on him.

Lobo

@(VND) I'm reasonably sure that Dodger pitches averaging 160 pitches per game has absolutely nothing to do with AJ's talent as a catcher.  Furthermore, this team's biggest problem is the offense, not the pitching staff, so picking a bone with AJ's handling of the staff is like calling out Uribe for being simply mediocre and ignoring Cruz.
