I can’t, I suppose, pretend that I care all that much about the outcome of this year’s big game. All things being equal, I’ll always root against Ray Lewis, but it’s also hard to want to see San Francisco win another title after having the Giants win the World Series twice in the last three years.

Still, it’s pretty clear that the Super Bowl has taken on a cultural relevance that’s more religious holiday than sporting event, so pretty much everyone will be watching it anyway. So there’s that, but it does also mark the official end of football season and the unofficial start of baseball season, especially with pitchers and catchers reporting in a matter of days..
